Just a Reminder!

makeupetcJust a friendly reminder to switch over to¬†Makeup Etc. ūüôā Follow me there for my latest posts, as I will be deleting Lashes and Lacquer in the near future! Thanks everyone!

It’s here!

So my latest blog is up and running!¬†You can¬†find it at¬†Makeup Etc.. I hope you’ll join me on my latest journey and tell your friends, too! It’s still in its beginning stage, so I don’t have a lot of content on it, yet, but I will be writing this week and sharing for you all to see. I am so happy to be starting not only 1, but 2, new phases in my life – Makeup Etc., and representing AVON. 2016¬†is shaping up nicely! I’d like to make the transition to Makeup Etc. as smoothly as possible, so follow me over there and see what new things I have in store for you. It will still include all of what you’ve come to love here at Lashes and Lacquer – skincare, makeup, nails, DIY, and product reviews. Makeup Etc. will have more of what you love.

Thank you, my lovely Lashes and Lacquer fans!

Good morning, lovies! You will never know how much I appreciate all of you following Lashes and Lacquer and reading about the products I’ve been trying and love. During my recent hiatus, I’ve started selling AVON (youravon.com/kyordy) and absolutely love it. But what I really want to share with you is that I am creating a new beauty blog for all of you to enjoy and I hope you will follow me there onto the next chapter! I have yet to decide on a name for the new blog, but once I do, I will post an update on here so you can join me! Until then, you can always refer to my past posts, some of which will be included in the new venture. Here’s to the next chapter!

Hi, everybody! Hope you’re making it through the week! Mine has been a busy one so far! As you saw before, I will be reviewing Lauren B. Beauty‘s¬†‘The Chateau’. I was very excited for them to so graciously send me this to swatch. I have always been pleased with the quality of polishes from this upstanding, earth-friendly company in Beverly Hills! All of their polishes are vegan, eco-friendly,¬†and not tested on animals! All of their products are proudly made in USA, too ūüôā

First, as you can see at the picture above, it is a beautiful, dark color for fall. It reminds me of a nice red wine! I used 2 coats of the Lauren B. Beauty ‘The Chateau’, and topped it off with Wet Paint ‘Top Coat Glaze’, another favorite of mine. Sorry you can see my cell phone reflection. Just shows how mirror-like the top coat is! ūüėČ What I really liked about ‘The Chateau’ is that it was very shiny even prior to the top coat addition. I do like using it anyway though because it will help prolong the color. Lauren B. Beauty does a great job at making long-lasting polishes, as it is, however!

While the prices are a little high, the colors are extraordinary and named after places in California, which is kind of neat! I really enjoy the selection and the fact that they hold out so well. I think I’m going to buy one of their nail care products soon since I love their polishes so much! Browse through it all¬†here! Have a great Thursday, it’s almost the weekend!

I hope you’ve all¬†been well since my last post!¬†So after a hectic and full summer with welcoming¬†a beautiful nephew and becoming an aunt, I am thrilled to get back to posting and writing new blogs for my followers! Halloween is right around the corner. Is everyone ready? Do you have some of your own Halloween nail art ¬†or ¬†a costume picked out for a party? If you do, send it to Lashes and Lacquer at LashesandLacquer@gmail.com, or use the Contact button at the top at and I will feature it in a later post! I tried a simple black and orange with plastic wrap and gold glitter for my first try for a design, but I hope to post another before Halloween comes! Alright, let’s get started with the steps! Be mindful I am still not well, so my skills are not as they used to be yet. ¬†I hope you will still stick around in the process!

Step 1

You’ll want to prep with something around your nails, like Vaseline with a Q-Tip, to prevent polish cleanup .It¬†didn’t work entirely as like I hoped, so I had to use acetone afterwards, but it helped.

Step 3

For Step 3, I used 2 coats of 3-free Lauren B. Beauty‘s ‘PAPARAZZI‘ which I love (goes on so smoothly and actually lasts).I I¬†have been using that brand for about a year now! Kind of reminds me of how leather looks! What do you think? I love it! It’s my favorite black polish.

Step 4

Step 4 is painting orange polish. I chose China GlazePool Party‘. You have to be quick because immediately after, you have to use a crinkled piece/ball of plastic wrap to quickly and gently dab over the nails with that polish.

Almost Done! ¬†I went over that with 2 layers of China Glaze ‘Counting Carats’. Finish with your favorite top coat and ¬†you are good to go. I recommend also using Gelish Nourish, as well, to maintain your cuticles. Well! I¬†see you next time, and remember to send me your Halloween nail or makeup looks! I always want ideas for posts you’d like to see, too!

UPDATE:¬† I was able to get the post up again with the photos showing, so it should be good! Let me know if there are still any¬†difficulties. And while you’re at it, add Lashes and Lacquer to your home screen on your phone for a quick way to get here. Thanks for being patient (although, I’m, not sure how long it’s been down!)!¬†

UPDATE: ¬†Everything appears okay… for now! We’ll see what tomorrow brings!

I had the great honor of swatching three of Chloe & Bella‘s beautiful nail polishes, thanks to the lovely creator Barbara for sending me these! Chloe & Bella is 100% vegan and cruelty-free and sells polishes of all textures, colors, glitter – you name it! After trying these three polishes, I have only good things to say! The quality is phenomenal and I was very impressed. Try them and see for yourself why Chloe & Bella is a top-shelf polish brand! I know I plan to purchase a bunch of the polishes on their website after having such fortune working with these three!

Fuchsia is a beautiful bright pink with blue flakes. It has just the right amount of sparkle! One coat looked great, but I used two!

Magnolia is a glitter-packed topcoat that looks amazing over a basecoat. I especially love the gold pieces in it. I layered it over a pale pink polish, but any of your favorite colors will work, too!

Stargazer is another heavy-glitter topcoat that can be used alone or layered on top of another polish. One coat is semi-sheer, while 3 coats is opaque. I used one. This polish is full of red, pink, purple, and fuchsia holographic glitters. Great for summer or any time you want a boost of bright colors! I put it on top of a hot pink polish.

You can find the entire line by Chloe & Bella here. Also check out their Instagram !

crueltyfreeLike many other beauty junkies out there, I’m getting more and more interested in using products that were not tested on animals. Unfortunately, after doing my research on brands today and looking at countless websites full of info on which¬†are cruelty-free, I noticed a LOT of my favorites were not on the list! Luckily, there were quite a few that were! I don’t feel it is necessary to test cosmetics on animals and I think it’s a practice that should be long gone. It seems many brands are now going the cruelty-free¬†route, so I’m hoping it’s just a matter of time before they all do. Sadly, there were quite a few top brands on the lists I read that¬†used to be okay, but in order to expand into China, they had to succumb to animal testing, as¬†some types of cosmetics require it there.

I’ve compiled these lists to name some of my favorite beauty brands that are free of animal testing! There are TONS out there. Not sure if your favorite brand made the cut? Check here or here! You don’t need to discontinue using your current makeup, but if you’re looking to try an alternative, look no further!
